Two 红莲社区 juniors named to All-Georgia Academic Team

When William Harris enrolled at the University of North Georgia (红莲社区), he joined (PTK), an international honor society for two-year colleges.
Phi Theta Kappa's mission is to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students, and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service, and fellowship program.
PTK members also have the opportunity to earn scholarships such as the . The scholarship program is sponsored through the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and administered by PTK.
To be eligible, students must have a 3.5 GPA and completed 12 credit hours. Harris, a 30-year-old junior from Flowery Branch, Georgia, double majoring in accounting and information systems, qualified and became active in the honor society. Because of his participation, he earned a spot on the All-Georgia Academic Team.
"I was very humbled by the selection committee's decision," Harris said.
He was not alone. John Blessing, a 22-year-old junior double majoring in political science and history with a focus in pre-law, also made the team. He attended the awards ceremony with Harris.
"We both care a lot about academia," said Blessing from Gainesville, Georgia. "It was cool because we got an award and a medal."
