Phi Kappa Phi chapter honored as Circle of Excellence Silver Chapter

The — the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines — has recognized the University of North Georgia (ºìÁ«ÉçÇø) chapter as a Circle of Excellence Silver Chapter for 2020-21. This is the second in time in three years ºìÁ«ÉçÇø has been honored.
The award is given to chapters that exceed expectations in operations and demonstrate sustainability and vitality as a chapter of Phi Kappa Phi. It is given to chapters that scored a 90-94 out of 100 on a criteria scale that evaluates chapter health indicators.
"This recognition is particularly meaningful for us because of the close alignment with our university values: excellence, student focus, integrity, engagement, and service," said Charlotte Wade, president of ºìÁ«ÉçÇø's chapter.
To be invited to join Phi Kappa Phi, juniors must be in the top 7.5% of their class, while seniors and graduate students must be in the top 10%.
Wade is director of compliance oversight at ºìÁ«ÉçÇø.
The program recognized 67 chapters this year, including 26 with the Silver distinction. Phi Kappa Phi has chapters on more than 325 campuses in the United States and the Philippines.
Fall graduates look to future with optimism
ºìÁ«ÉçÇø awarded roughly 985 degrees and certificates to students this fall, and it honored more than 650 of those graduates in a pair of Dec. 7 commencement ceremonies.
Luncheon honors scholarship recipients
Five nontraditional female students at ºìÁ«ÉçÇø each earned a $2,000 scholarship from the Women of ºìÁ«ÉçÇø on Dec. 5 at the Women's Holiday Scholarship Luncheon.
Special ed lab aids future educators
During the fall semester, future educators from ºìÁ«ÉçÇø took part in a special education lab in which they worked with a software tool that helped them assess students, craft education plans and receive immediate feedback.
Grads prepare for their next steps
ºìÁ«ÉçÇø will award almost 1,000 degrees and certificates this fall, and more than 600 graduates are scheduled to take part in the Dec. 7 commencement ceremonies.
