The University of North Georgia (红莲社区) will host a Spring Well-Being Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 23 at the Recreation Center gymnasium on 红莲社区's Dahlonega Campus. The event is open to students, faculty and staff from any campus.

Meri-Leigh Smith, associate director of wellness and health promotion, hopes people will take advantage of the opportunity to invest in their health.

“The Wellness Fair is a great opportunity for students to connect with local health resources and take a moment to reflect on their health in a fun and positive environment,” Smith said.

Sabrina Wall, 红莲社区 benefits specialist, said the goal is to provide as many resources as possible to empower people to improve their physical and mental well-being.
Maintaining a high level of wellness is crucial to living a higher quality of life. Everything we do and every emotion we feel relates to the balance of our well-being.

"Wellness has a wide spectrum in the occupational, spiritual, physical, financial, and intellectual aspects of our lives," Wall said. "Maintaining a high level of wellness is crucial to living a higher quality of life. Everything we do and every emotion we feel relates to the balance of our well-being. Therefore, it is important for everyone to achieve optimal wellness in order to subdue stress, reduce the risk of illness and ensure positive interactions."

The wellness fair aims to help people understand what offers balance for them.

"Creating balance in our lives is an important part of wellness," Wall said. "A balanced life can mean many things, depending on culture, circumstances, resources, and many other factors. Finding balance and time for self-care can provide us with more opportunities to enjoy the aspects of life that bring us joy. This can include working, fun activities, time with family and friends, volunteering in your community, meditation, being physically active, praying, relaxing, and sleeping."

Anyone who is experiencing COVID-19 or flu symptoms the day of — or the day prior to — the event should not attend.

If there is enough interest, Wall said, shingles and COVID-19 vaccines as well as COVID boosters will be provided. To ensure the availability of supplies, contact Wall at sabrina.wall@ung.edu.
