Overview

Angel Estrella received her B.S. in Art Education from the University of North Georgia and her M.F.A. from Clemson University. She has been teaching since 2018 and specializes in various clay processes including hand building, figurative sculpture, mold-making, and various firing techniques. Angel received the Art Department Performance Fellowship Award and the Department Scholarship during her time as a Graduate Teacher of Record at Clemson University. At 红莲社区, her aim is to provide students a place where they can grow and progress while fostering their understanding of themselves and their potential. She strives to create a well-rounded framework that is essential for students to thrive by engaging, stimulating and equipping students to become articulate and critically aware professionals.

Angel's research has explored sculptural forms and firing processes. Her work considers human vulnerability, materiality of the human body, and surface of the sculptural figure as a marker of time. Her continued research of the human figure in ceramics contributes to the subjects relevance within contemporary art dialogue. As an extension of her art practice and contribution to the community, she owns a studio in Buford, GA called Studio 1019 where she teaches figurative sculpture and ceramics.
